American artist Georgia O'Keeffe is celebrated for her Native American-like artwork. O'Keeffe holds a place as one of the most influential artists in American art, beginning in the 1920s. Her artwork is characterized by the abstraction of flowers, seashells, bones, animals, landscapes, deserts, rock formations and fossils.
Her Life
Her full name is Georiga Totto O'Keeffe. She was born in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, but she is usually talked about as a Southwestern artist, because she lived in New Mexico for the middle and later years of her life.
She was born on November 15, 1887. She died March 6, 1986, at the age of 98.
O'Keeffe had six brothers and sisters.

Style
O'Keeffe's style was a new take on the American art world. At the time of O'Keeffe's entrance into the art world, Dada was the main style of choice. Dada dwelled on chaos. O'Keeffe focused on still-life paintings and taking a still-life image and making it abstract.
Legacy
Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings left a legacy of irony-free art at the end of the 20th century.
