It is part of the progression of creating (designing) and it is the results of it (the design), as well.

This profession is often done on a freelance basis, sometimes as a part-time job. Approximately one-fourth of all graphic designers are self-employed. It is possible to obtain employment as a graphic designer with an associate's degree. However, those who obtain a bachelor's degree will have the greatest chances. This is especially true for those who have familiarity in website design and animation.

Graphic design takes an idea, want or need and transforms it into a visual statement. It is the process of creating or designing a concept.
